Corvette Stingray Concept Speedster spotted

corvette stingray concept speedster spotted in beverly hills picture
The Corvette Stingray Concept was featured in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and then unveiled at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. However that was a coupe model which is like the vehicle spotted in Beverly Hills recently. Of course, Beverly Hills had the chance to see a Speedster version of the 50th Anniversary Corvette Stingray Concept parked in the area. And since GM has said absolutely nothing about a Speedster version we can only assume that this is the work of a tuning firm.

Compared to the standard Stingray concept, the Speedster version features - besides missing the top - a different hood with dual openings in the front, no LED vertical headlights – a more conventional lighting system appears tucked into the front recesses, different wheels, and a different front grille.

However, there might be another explanation for this strange sight. We have to consider the fact that since Transformers 3 is in the works, it might be possible the Speedster version was specially developed for the movie. Or could this be the 2014 Corvette? Don’t worry, we’re kidding!

Ford preparing the concept version of Kuga crossover and Escape SUV for next year’s Detroit Motor Show. The new compact-sized crossover model will go into production in the second half of 2012 as a 2013 model.

“The Kuga/Escape successor could hit Deutschland’s showrooms as early as March next year and reach other European markets by the second quarter.” Bernhard Mattes said. He is man in charge of Ford’s German factories.
Moving production to the U.S. is another point on Ford’s agenda. It’s likely that the new car will be manufactured in Louisville, Kentucky, while the German factory in Saarlouis will keep the European production of the new Focus.

Generation C7 Corvette on Hold – Indefinitely

C7 Corvette Rendering
It was just two weeks ago that Motor Trend reported the next generation Corvette would be pushed back to 2014. With turbulent economic crises threatenin
g the very existence of the Big 3 automakers, word comes from AutoWeek that GM has put plans for the C7 Corvette on indefinite hold with no official word or set timetable.

Luckily, none of the sources are suggesting that the Corvette will go away. Corvette Vehicle-Line Executive Tom Wallace told AutoWeek “No one is saying we’re not doing Corvettes. We’re still bullish on Corvettes.” When asked directly if there was any chance the Corvette would die, Wallace stated emphatically “No way.”

Talk is now about the how the C6 Corvette’s run can be extended. One version of the story is that the C6 could be upgraded significantly in 2012 as a ’13 model. Wallace says we’ll see changes sooner than that. “There are changes, some neat stuff, coming for 2010 that I can’t talk about yet.”

Peugeot EX1 concept

http://new-car-trends.blogspot.com/
On the eve of the of the Paris Motor Show, Peugeot held a private viewing of the EX1 Concept Car at its premier showroom on the Champs Elysees in Paris. The EX1 represents one of Peugeot’s celebrations of 200 years of business, along with the company’s new corporate mantra, “Motion and Emotion”. The EX1 concept proves that an electric powered car does not need to be only a neighbourhood local commuter car, but also an exciting, efficient, and high speed mode of transport.
Its name stands for: E = Electric, X = across four wheels, and 1 = the No. 1 vehicle of its type. The front of the car is charged with smoothing the airflow over its tapered rear half, which reflects the more mechanical attributes of the EX1. In truth, Peugeot introduced similar conceptual architectural layouts in their Asphalt concept from 1996 and the 2006 20Cup Concept.

All of these concepts feature a very narrow rear track, primarily for improved aerodynamics, handling and efficient, minimal packaging. The most significant evolution of this third generation of narrow rear track concepts from Peugeot are is its pair of electric motors, each providing power to either the front or rear wheels.

“The new Peugeot DNA is Motion and Emotion. This is all about efficiency,” explained Gilles Vidal, Peugeot Director of Design. “In the design department at Peugeot, we are pushing towards the reality that ‘electric’ is all about an emotional experience of getting out of the city, and having an exciting time driving”.

The inside tack is that its DRG is a strong hint towards the upcoming 208 supermini’s face. Aside from this, the concept seems to sit slightly ill at ease with Peugeot’s move away from what it describes as a ‘hyper-sporty’ aesthetic. While, after 14 years of similar concepts, there still seems little chance that the company will every commit one to production.

2012 Mahindra XUV500 in Australia

India’s leading SUV manufacturer, Mahindra, has just unveiled its first global SUV – the Mahindra XUV500 – and according to the company’s CEO, it’s heading to Australia within six months.
Mahindra has confirmed the XUV500 will be priced between Rs 10.80 lakh and Rs 12.88 lakh ($22,600-$26,950) in India. If these price convert directly to Australian Dollars, the Mahindra XUV500 promises to provide serious competition to the Chinese-built Great Wall X240 ($23,990), although we expect the Mahindra to be priced above the Great Wall.
The Mahindra XUV500 will join the Pik-Up ute in Australia, which is priced from $20,990 to $30,490 driveaway.
Mahindra international automotive operations CEO, Pravin Shah, confirmed the global rollout plans for the XUV500 at yesterday’s international unveiling in India.

Dartz downsizes to find its Mojo

There are a lot of things you could call the Dartz Prombron, but small, economical and svelte certainly aren't among them. The hulking Latvian SUV is about as brutish as they come, and while Dartz has ventured into sleeker territory with the Nagel concept, that's little more than a cut-down Prombron made for towing speedboats. This, however, is something else entirely.

Looking like something you might expect to see in the archives at Bertone or Giugiaro (or on the set of the next Alien vs. Predator movie), the Mojo is a new roadster being developed by Dartz. The shape is both curvaceous and angular (and strange...), with the engine exposed in the back (though no word yet on what engine that is) and two motorbike-style exhaust silencers protruding into the air. A glass canopy can be closed or slid backwards for ingress, egress and open-air motoring. There's even an electric version in the works called Jo-Mojo. Funny names since, unlike some of its other offerings, this Dartz vehicle actually isn't upholstered in foreskin. At least, we assume it isn't.

The Mojo is set to be showcased at the 2012 Top Marques Monaco show at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo come April, by which time Dartz will presumably offer a little more in the way of technical details. In the meantime you can check out the photos in the gallery for a closer look.
