When you think about sub-compact cars, what generally comes to mind? For most people it’s a cheap interior, sub-par power and most of all, the lack of creature comforts. For 2012 though Chevrolet seeks to change that with the release of their new 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. Over the last few years and due to a crappy economy, automakers have seen a rise in the sub-compact car segment. Cars like the Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Accent, while not flying off sales floors have definitely seen a rise in consumer interest. Chevrolet’s previous offering, the pint-sized Aveo, is now dead and in it’s place comes this new peaky pocket-rocket that has its sights dead set on the competition.

There is no doubt that visually, the Sonic is a much better alternative to both the Ford and Hyundai. It’s aggressive looking, sporty and more importantly (according to GM) a hoot to drive thanks to a suspension that was tuned by Corvette engineers. The Sonic is also available in either a four-door or 5-door hatchback. Under the hood the new Sonic can be had with either GM’s standard 1.8-liter Ecotec or the 138hp 1.4-liter turbo. This is the same engine that was in the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze that I recently tested. Combine that with either a fun 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, and you’ve got the makings of a really fun little scoot.

According to these photo’s the Sonic’s new interior should also be a winner with such amenities as a stylized gauge cluster with digital readout, remote start, heated front seats and sunroof. GM has made huge leaps as far as their vehicle interiors go, in fact the Cruze’s interior was one of the nicest I’ve seen. With that being said, if that is any indication of the quality we’re going to be receiving, well then, I’m all for it.

Hyundai EON Trial Production Is In Full Swing

The launch date of Hyundai EON will now be unveiled in this month; the company began the manufacture of EON model at its production plant situated in Chennai. Its price is one of the most significant attractions these days, as a compact vehicle is likely to be available for the price of approximately Rs. 2.5 lakh, making it a strong competitor for Maruti Suzuki Alto. The EON hatchback is most likely to be the most important volume driver for Hyundai in India. Maruti Suzuki has marketed more than three lakh Alto models for becoming one of the largest marketed single car marque in the world, and its price ranges from Rs. 2.32 lakh. It is quite popular in India and usually offers the sales of 25,000 to 30,000 vehicles.

 

The Hyundai EON will be one of the most affordable vehicles from the company, powered by an 800cc engine with the option of automatic and manual transmission. It is also believed that Santro will be phased out, once the EON is introduced to the Indian market. Mr. Arvind Saxena, Sales and Marketing Director at Hyundai said that, new vehicle introductions are unwavering on the basis of long term outlook on the market. Hyundai Motor India Limited is at present one of the 2nd biggest automobile manufacturing companies after Maruti Suzuki and the biggest auto exporter in India. It designs and markets various models in India, the most famous being i20, i10 and Santro Xing.

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1- Unveiled at 2011 Chicago Auto Show

After so much wait and patience from the Chevy fans, Chevrolet has finally entered the market with extremely loaded goods in its bags. The 6.2L charged with V8 LSA version and more than 550 horsepower to be introduced in the Camaro. The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro debuted at 2011 Chicago Auto Show with expanded version as ZL1 and it’s pretty awesome.

The car is too expected with loads of facilities and high end features which will delight the Chevy fans. The Camaro is packed with shiny container, lots of power and offcourse the price tag will be quite reasonable. Though we ar just hoping that, it comes with high quality features that will raise the beauty of the “Chevrolet Camaro ZL1”. The Chevy is still non ready with its official numbers, but definitely going to jammed with more than 550 hp and torque level in the LSA V8 engines. The added torque of MG9 version for the Tremec TR- 6060, a six speed manual transmission.

Further it will featured with beefed up driveshaft, dual mode from Corvette, rear axle set up, magnetic ride suspension, limited slip differential in heavy duty and optional two driver modes. The 14.4 and 14.6 inch rear and front brake rotors, plunger calipers with six for out back and extra exteriors and interiors tweaks with limited versions. The Chevrolet Camaro will be available in al standard colors from the exteriors, but interiors you will get avail with black in the interiors. The Camaro ZL1 featured with standard content and heated leather seats similar to be found at 2SS package from Camaro SS.
